Coughs (Colds and Flu)
Many of us have been unlucky enough to have already succumbed to the usual round of sore throats, coughs and colds.
So here are some food and herb tips that may help-
For a dry hacking cough with little mucous, consume a lot of raw veg, fruits and juices. These will encourage more watery mucous that is easy to shift. Add the antiviral/antibacterial blend ‘Onion and Horseradish Concentrate’ which will warm and ‘liquify’ the mucous, making it easier to remove when you cough.
If you produce a lot of pale mucous and suffer congestion then avoid cold fruits and juices and drink warming liquids like ginger, garlic and onion soups. ‘Onion and Horseradish Concentrate’ will bring heat and much-needed circulation as well.

Remove wheat and dairy products from your diet while you are unwell because these foods are frequent triggers for excessive mucous production.
Rest and sleep are two important regenerators that will be difficult to achieve with a nighttime cough. So the quicker the cough subsides the better the sleep.
A foot bath sounds complicated but it can be easily achieved with a bucket or washing up bowl. Fill with hot water and then add 1-2 tsp of mustard powder and stir well. Soak the feet for 2-5-10 minutes. It is a great way of heating and sweating which can encourage the body to more speedily remove impurities and toxins. However, the individual must be naturally strong; this should certainly not be used if you are underweight or weak
