Losing Weight and Lose the Water
You feel heavier; you don’t fit into your clothes so well. Swollen limbs and internally over-burdened organs-this is water retention. There are multiple reasons for holding water and to name but a few if you are deficient in B1, B6 and B5 then water retention can occur (Superfood Plus is rich in all these ‘B’ rich foods). Another reason is simply sluggishness due to lack of exercise. It’s also common pre-menstrually and equally those over 50 plus can simply have less active kidneys and bladders. Diuretic or water removal foods can help: – parsley, watercress, leafy greens, cucumber, celery, cabbage, garlic and pineapple. Try these as smoothies, salad, soups and stews.
Consume potassium-rich foods, these are:- bananas, melons, raspberries, blackberries, spinach, mushrooms, bell peppers, sunflower seeds. They are also ‘electrolyte-rich’ which will maintain a better overall sodium and potassium balance, which in turn stimulates the kidneys to flush waste and excess salt. Check you are not over-consuming table salt (sodium chloride) and if do get into sea or rock salt instead.
At Herbs Hands Healing, we have Parsley and Cornsilk Tea, which contains wild cornsilk, wild dandelion leaf, parsley leaf and finally a small amount of wild juniper berries. Parsley inhibits the re-absorption of potassium and sodium, which allows excess water to leave the body, in fact, all the herbs really make for fast-acting results (and can even help low level bladder infections).
