Nature Watch – Blackberries in Flower

Blackberry is the same family as the Rose (Rosaceae), which houses many of our prized edible fruits, e.g. peach and raspberry.

Blackberries fall into the category of ‘high-end anti-inflammatory nutritious fruits’, due to their purple colouring. The purple denotes something called “anthocyanins”, which are the highest value medicinal flavonoids.
Lovely to think we can wild pick aplenty as summer progresses.
