Know your Anti-Inflammatory Herbs
\nTwo anti-inflammatory foods that are largely known are of course ginger and turmeric; being in the same botanical family they share some biochemistry but each also has some entirely differing and positive reasons for helping inflammation. However, I wanted to focus on other lesser-known botanicals that equally aid inflammation for differing reasons and which possess yet different again biochemistry.<\/p>\n
Nettle Leaf
\nA classic for gout (gout is often classified as the strongest inflammatory disorder), rheumatism, arthritis and other kinds of inflammatory situations in different body systems and organs. Nettle leaves directly interfere with the body\u2019s production of prostaglandins and other inflammation-causing chemicals and quickly start to eliminate toxins which help prevent buildups of kidney debris, acids etc. Due to its high levels of vitamin C and iron, it stimulates red blood cell production, increasing circulation and oxygen. The leaves will also directly help chronic stiffness and muscle pain and it\u2019s believed that nettle somehow interferes with the way nerves send pain signals.

Dandelion (root & leaf)
\nI did a post talking about dandelion recently, but in this context, it\u2019s the \u2018Taraxasterol\u2019 in the dandelion root that is so anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving which has always been traditionally known but a 2015 study has now proven it. Equally dandelion root is a premier liver cleanser easing out harmful materials both in the liver and gallbladder. The leaves are rich in flavonoids (and the flowers) and are therefore rich in antioxidants and free radical scavengers. \nThis is a whole category of anti-inflammatory herbs in themselves and they come under demulcent and soothing, often lending a thick and slippery lining to inflamed hot surfaces. Such herbs are slippery elm bark, plantain leaves and marshmallow root. All are our friends to heal and cool more quickly.<\/p>\n
Cleansing
\nRemember that any and all kinds of detoxification processes are key to helping inflammation, this can be a gentle daily use of herbs and foods or more defined cleanses and cleansing routines.
