Herbs, Hands, Healing & Your Personal Data

At Herbs, Hands, Healing we are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our customers. Your health is a personal and sensitive matter to you, and we want to be completely transparent with how we use any of your data that we come into contact with in the course of your dealings with us. So read on, this privacy statement sets out each aspect of how we may handle your information and how we keep it secure.

In particular, we want you to know from the outset that we will never buy, sell, rent, share or trade email lists or any other customer data with other companies.

Types of Data We Collect

Website Cookies

A cookie is a small text file containing information that a website transfers to your computer’s hard disk. Website CMS (content management system) and e-commerce. Both our CMS and our e-commerce platform (WooCommerce) require cookies to enable default website features.  All data is anonymous. Cookies are deleted after the user session.
doubleclick.com Google advertising tracking We use Google’s Double Click network for online advertising. Some of the pages on our site and store contain embedded YouTube videos from our YouTube channel. These players store a cookie for the intended default youtube functionality.

Mailing Lists

As part of the registration process for our monthly e-newsletter, we collect First Name, Last Name, and email address and we will use this information to send you our monthly newsletter.  We may also contact you to check that our records are right.  We never share this information with other companies or individuals. 

We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our newsletter. The data collected above is stored with MailChimp.  We gather statistics around email openings and clicks using industry-standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our newsletters or by emailing [email protected].

E-commerce Data

We use the industry-standard e-commerce platform for our online sales.  When an order is made the system collects the personal information necessary for processing that transaction.

Users may check out as guests or via an account.  We save encrypted personal information for our account holders.  Guest check-outs do not require an account to be created, but personal information is inevitably required to process an order and we are required by law to save transactional data which may include: name, email address, delivery address and telephone number.

When you buy something from us, some of your information will be passed securely to our payment gateways, Paypal or Braintree, in order to process the order.  Please see https://www.braintreepayments.com/gb/legal/braintree-privacy-policy and https://www.paypal.com/en/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full for their privacy policies.  Herbs Hands Healing do not have access to any personal financial information such as credit card numbers. Additionally, in order to send your goods to you, we of course need to provide Royal Mail or our other shipping partners with your name and address information.

In the online shop account creation process, there is an option to opt-in to our newsletter.  If this option is chosen, Our online shop will add the relevant email address to our MailChimp mailing list via an encrypted API link.

Access to Your Personal Information

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete any personal information that we hold about you. Please email any request to our data protection team – [email protected]. In compliance with GDPR regulations, our nominated Data Officer is Peter Schmittmann.

Changes to this Privacy Notice

This privacy notice was updated in May 2018 to coincide with the implementation of the GDPR.  At Herbs, Hands, Healing we take privacy very seriously and we do our best to ensure that our policy and activity go beyond compliance to give our customers the very best online experience.  We will review this policy as the understanding of current and future regulations develops.
