Blackcurrants & Blackberries, but why not Blueberries?
Native fruits like blackcurrants and blackberries are real favourites of mine. The flavour, the texture and indeed the high antioxidant levels in these black/blue fruits, of which many say the highest levels are in fact in the blackcurrant.
These delicious dark fruits are all rich in anthocyanins, which all naturally boost immunity and fight viruses. Their Vitamine C content is also very high. Being powerhouses of antioxidants will of course enrich blood flow and oxygen levels overall.
They make good smoothie additions for Autumn chills so seek them out, sadly mostly frozen! (wild blackberry picking when available)
Why is it difficult to buy Blackcurrants I often wonder, why the supermarket fashion for blueberries? Apparently, they were banned from being grown in America in the past!
