Elderflower Tea for Hayfever

Elderflower Tea for Hayfever
The irony of elderflower potentially causing hayfever (like many other pollen-rich plants) is not lost on me. But yes, elderflower is a traditional choice for helping to dry up the swollen irritated mucous membranes caused by hayfever. Reducing the bunged-up sinuses and watering eyes.
It’s such a deliciously cooling, fragrant herb tea and can be made by collecting the blossoms (one large one, as per the photo, per cup) leaving for 20 mins to allow the black bugs to crawl off. Then chop crudely, pour on boiling water and infuse for 20 mins. Add lemon juice if desired.
Elderflowers and elderberry are classic choices in general for fevers, and colds and help the immune system modulate and calm allergy issues.
