Thanksgiving for our Herbs
This yearly date of Thanksgiving in the U.S always prompts me to remember the invaluable gifts of plants and herb knowledge shared by U.S (and Canadian) Indigenous Native Americans. The most notorious of which is perhaps Echinacea (various species). With other herbs like California poppy, Saw palmetto, Lobelia inflata and American ginseng to name a few more.
The many tribes using these herbs utilized them in similar and sometimes differing ways, enriching us all in their shared wisdom and knowledge.
