Mahonia buds getting ready for Spring!

Mahonia aquifolium (also known as Oregon grape, due to its stunning autumn berries) is gearing up for flowering, which it will do with cheerful, yellow floral explosions in February/March.
This berberine and hydrastine rich medicinal root is good for the skin, stomach upsets, general infections, bowel cleansing and GERD (reflux disease) amongst many others situations. It’s a great favourite of mine and I learnt of its myriad of indispensable uses from my American teachers originally.
