Wild Soap-Soapwort
Soapwort (Saponaria officinalis) is the original free plant source of soap. Nowadays, it is generally used by fabric conservators (National Trust, etc.) for delicate or old clothes and tapestries.
The leaves and roots are boiled/simmered to release the soapy residue.
