Immunity and Plantain leaves.
The leaves of the common weed plantain are highly undervalued if at all recognized as an immune plant.
As a prolific weed, it is a very useful and potent immune defender capable of neutralising various bacteria. It is also antiviral and helpful for tackling colds, flu, Hep B to pneumonia.
Traditionally it was used frequently as nature’s bandage, especially the wider leaves found on Plantago major. The photo shows Plantago lanceolata. Either species can be used medicinally.
Its biochemistry is very interesting, it contains plantamajoside , similar to echinacoside from Echinacea.
Finally, the roots exhibit anti-cytokine substances, which is incredibly useful (reducing inflammatory cytokines) the huge flu pandemic in 1918 was so devastating because it created cytokine storms and resulted in killing the very young.
Additionally, it helps to cleanse and detox, is anti-allergy and helps fatigue.
It’s still in leaf so collect and make tea or add to smoothies.
It’s also in our Herbs Hands Healing Immugold tea. (Ask for samples)
