Sage, A Wise Choice for Home Health
Sage, A Wise Choice for Home Health
Wikipedia notes that its name comes from salvere ‘to save.’ According to modern research, sage improves mood and mental performance, memory, and attention.
For this time of year, it’s also a really useful cough remedy as it tightens any loose infected mucous membranes of the throat and generally attacks the bacteria and other microbes causing not only the sore throat but any other attendant upper respiratory infection (to include virus). The purple sage is, in fact, the ideal species but the green is fine too, both are excellent to use.
Like rosemary, sage contains rosmarinic acid which reduces inflammatory responses, so it’s also useful (like rosemary) for all inflammatory conditions.
Not least sage is an essential part of my ‘Vitex & Black Cohosh’ formula for the menopause, helping both oestrogen ratios and the sweating. Call to enquire about the formula if you’re interested.
