Winter Catkins and Autumn Hazelnuts
If there ever was a Metabolic syndrome food then its hazelnuts! These beautiful catkins will produce tasty cobs or hazelnuts next autumn and no doubt the squirrels will be faster than us to harvest.
Hazelnuts help regulate blood pressure, in general, to include reducing blood fats. It helps reduce chronic inflammation. Lowers blood sugar……and is of course highly nutritious and incredibly tasty. We often combine with sweet flavours don’t we but they’re lovely in savoury smoothies, crushed into salads or added to steamed red cabbage, carrots etc.
