Our Native Infection Remedy
This 300-year-old oak tree is a wonderful winter companion for our village.
In summer its leaves make a handy home remedy. The tannin-rich foliage infused in hot water makes a quick ‘wash’ that creates a resistant barrier to microbes. It is useful where there may be a bacterial infection on the skin. The tannic acid in the leaves works by binding with proteins to create a resistant barrier. It also dries out the cells, strengthening tissue and blood vessels, helping reduce infection, inflammation, irritations of the skin and mucous membranes.
Very useful for burns, cuts, eczema, bruising etc.
